Now for some real exciting news of the Thompson family, and againconcerning our dear old Hilery. Since being at the graves and writingdown dates of Kenton Thompson grandparents and great-grandparents, I ofcourse learned the death dates. Knowing James Harvey Thompson
served the Mexican war from Raywick, Ky in 1847 and enlisted along thesame day as Hilery. James's wife was Sarah F. unknown. She lived to1903. I thought to myself, I wonder if James filed for Pension or if hiswife Sarah filed for widows pension since she lived longer then James. SoI sent to the National archives in Washing D. C. and received a packet ofinformation just today.

James H. Thompsonappeared, who served under the name James H. Thompson as a Private inCompany commanded by Capt. E.A. Graves in the 16th regiment US Infantrycommanded by Col J.W. Tabbatts in the War with Mexico. He enlisted atRaywick, KY on the 10th day of April 1847 for the term of 5 yrs if notdischarged sooner. He was honorably discharged at Newport, Ky ont he 5thday of August 1848.
That I am now 64 yrs of age. I was born inWashington County now Marion County, Kentucky on the 14 day of October1823. That I am married and the maiden name of my wife was Ellen Gardnerto whom I was married in Marion CO. KY in 1850. That my wife is now dead having died in 1852 in Marion CO. CO. Ihave since married, that the name of my present wife is SARAH FRANCISWILLIAMSON. I have lived in the following areas, Marion CO. KY and Gentry (now Worth CO) Missouri. Enclosed is Affividavits from Hillary M.Thompson and B.J. Thompson signed James H. Thompson.
State of Missouri, County of Worth before me appeared Hillory M. Thompsonwho being fully sworn and says: I have known James H. Thompson for thespace of 64 years, that he is the identical person describing to be. That he enlisted into the company of Capt Gravescommanded by J.W. Tabbatts in the Mexican war. That the said James H.Thompson served 60 days with the army of the United Sated on the coast orfrontier, or en route thereto, in the war with that nation, that I swearto these facts from the knowledge obtained as follows. Having servedwith him during the time in the same company, we enlisted together andwere discharged together. That the said James H. Thompson is 64 yrs ofage having been born on Oct 10 1823 in Washington CO. KY. and that Iswear to these factsfrom knowledge
obtained as follows: BEING BROTHERS. Signed Hillory M. Thompson Sept 61887. Benedict Joseph thompson is almost the same except it states heknew he was in the war with Mexico. That he knew Sarah F. Thompson wasmarried to James H. Thompson under the name Sarah F. Williamson by
Rev. Colgin on Aug 11, 1853 in Raywick, state of Ky. and lived with herhusband from the date of marriage until his death the 19, of May 1889,died in Irena in Worth Co. Mo. and that he knew Sarah F. Thompson had not remarried and that he knee James H. Thompson, husband ofSarah F. has not since remarried, that the said James H. Thompson hadbeen previously married; that Sarah F. Thompson claiming as widow notbeen previously married. These facts I swear are true from knowledgeobtained as follows: By my acquaintance with James H. Thompson all of mylife, from seeing him leave home and go to war, with Sarah F. Thompsonfor 35 years.
