WADSWORTH - Betty J. Auker, 82, died Saturday, Nov. 26, 2005, at the Cleveland Clinic, after a brief illness.
Born May 8, 1923, in Marion, Ohio, to the late William and Myrtle Sayre Price, Mrs. Auker resided in Wadsworth since 1975, previously residing in Kenmore. She was a secretary in Infant Therapy at Akron Children's Hospital, retiring in 1988 with 11 years service. She was a member of Wadsworth United Methodist Church and Christ United Methodist Church in Venice, Fla. She was a former member of Park United Methodist Church in Kenmore, and enjoyed needlework and collecting glassware. She was a member of Kenmore Mother's Club and Fernleaf Chapter 422 O.E.S., and her passion was her family.
Mrs. Auker is survived by her husband of 62 years, Marion D.; children, Karl and wife, Frances, of San Ramon, Calif., Daniel and wife, Frances, of Medina, Rex and wife, Becky, of Bend, Ore., Karla Love and husband, Steve, of Sharon Township; nine grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by sisters, Frances Messner and Marion Smith.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., at the Hilliard & Mullaney Funeral Home, 174 N. Lyman St., Wadsworth, where a Star service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Funeral services Thursday, 11 a.m., at the Wadsworth United Methodist Church, 195 Broad St., Wadsworth. Rev. Kurt Landerholm officiating. Interment at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens. Contributions may be made to Akron Children's Hospital Infant Therapy Services, 1 Perkins Square, Akron, Ohio 44308.
