U.S. President James Monroe is a descendant. U.S. President John Tyler is a descendant.
HENRY TYLER OF ENGLAND, was a member of an ancient Shropshire family thatis thought to have been originally from Wales, and represented in GreatBritian in the elder line by the late Sir William Tyler and Sir CharlesTyler of Parliment and Admiralty. John Henry was one of three Tyler brothers who came from England about1638 - 1640. The three Tyler brothers settled separately in VA, Mass, andCT. Henry's given name was John Henry Tyler. Which makes good senseseeing that he named his children John and Henry. In turn his childrennamed their children Johns, Henrys and Moses, Charles and Job after hisbrothers, their uncles. The only evidence we have is an extract fromLawrence Tyler's will naming his children. It is suspected that one ofthe three Tylers was not a brother but an uncle, Roger Tyler, who settledin New Haven, Conn. We place these Tylers here so we can present theirfamily lines.
Henry, settled in Charles City, VA in 1652. In Vol. III, of the VirginiaLand Register is the record of a Patent in Henry Tylers name dated Jan 7,1652, locating 254 acres in Middle Plantation, VA, due to him by and fortransporting to this colony six persons. This land is the land upon thePalace of the Royal Govenor was built. Henry is a descendant of WatTyler, according to G.C. Greer in his "Early Virginia Immigrants".Furthermore, John Tyler the 10th president of the US refers to beingrelated to Wat Tyler, the blacksmith and English Rebel, in a speech. JohnTyler, the president, is a descendant of Henry.
Henry Tyler lived in the outskirts of what is now the city ofWilliamsburg, Virginia. At June Court 1672, Ann Tyler his relic, (Henry), entered a record ofDeed of Gift disposing of her separate estate among her three sons,Henry, John and Daniel. There were no heirs by his first wife Mary. Twochildren of Henry and Anne went on to have many descendants: His oldestson, Henry Tyler stayed in VA and his line is the 10th President JohnTyler's line. John Tyler the second son of Henry and Anne moved toHanover, VA and then his line of descendants migrated to North Carolinaand later to South Carolina. This line of John Tyler's can be considered"The Southern Tylers". The Tylers migrated heavily after theRevolutionary War, to Texas, Missouri, Mississippi and Louisiana
