[5789] [hughbuckner.FTW] [Brøderbund WFT Vol. 5, Ed. 1, Tree #3634, Date of Import: Apr 14, 2001] Hugh Buckner resided in the City of Oxford. According to the "Registrum Universitatis, Oxon," he took the oath as Baliff, October 2, 1592; and on November 25, 1596, appeared before the Vice-Chancellor for examination in a claim that he had presented of the amount of 20 pounds.

If he left a will, no record of it has been found. However, in the Parish Registers of St. Aldates, and of the Church of St. Mary, Oxford, there are various entries pertaining to his children and grandchildren, and the issue of his sister Rose. It is from these records that the approximate birthdates of his children have been derived. It is interesting to note that a son named William was buried in 1598. In 1605 a son named William was baptized.

St. Marys Parish Registers provide strong evidence as to the parentage of John and Philip Buckner, the Virginia immigrants.

Burial Notes: Her stone and that of he rhusband are slightly uphill from those of her parents.

In "Ezra Perry of Sandwich, Mass, (c.1625-1689)" (Register 115 (Apr. 1961), previously cited), Brownson & McLean state "Elizabeth (Burgess) Perry, born probablyin or near Truro, Cornwall, England, [:UND] was the only daughter of Thomas and Dorothy Burges of Sandwich", (emphasis added). The authors cite no sourceor justification to believe even probably that Elizabeth was born "in or near Truro". This statement has undoubtedly encouraged fellow researchers who place her father in the Cornwall Burgess family. For reasons discussed in the entry for the immigrant, the compilers do not share that opinion.

That pioneer Joseph Loomis was a man of "respectable pecuniary means" is also evidenced by the fact that his name appears on the tax list of Braintree, England, for building a ship of 800 tons

Beverly Schonewolf provided the following information about Joseph's origin and immigration. We are trying to find the original source.

The proof that Joseph Loomis came from Braintree, England isestablished by the deposition of Joseph Hills of Charlestown, Mass., taken July 30, 1639.

[21132] Rosie Bevan, in a posting to soc.genealogy.medieval, added an extra Robert (this one) to the pedigree given by Kay Allen, who was using Moriarty's Notebook XIV as a source. Later postings put this Robert in doubt, but I think the dates call for an extra generation.

[26801] Mary Queen of Scots succeeded her father on 12/14/1542, seven days after her birth. She was forced to surrender to a confederation of Scottish nobles headed by her bastard brother, Regent Moray, at Carberry Hill on June 15, 1567. After 19 years in custody in a number of castles and manor houses in England, she was tried and executed for treason for her alleged involvement in three plots to assassinate Elizabeth.
