Note:
In 1679 "Select Courts" "being established by law, Capt Jonathan Sparrow,Mr. Mark Snow & mr. John Doane were commissioned to hold them in thistown." In 1675 Mark Sjow was chosen deputy and continued deputy for sixyears. In 1667 hewas chosen selectman and served in this position foreighteen years. In 1663 hewas chosen town clerk, and was town clerk forfifteen years.
Will of Mark Snow
"In the name of God Amen. I Mark Snow of Eastham being weak of body butin sound mind and disposing memory, do make this my last will andtestament in manner and form following. That is to say, ffirst andprincipally I resign ,my soulinto God that gave it in hopeful assuranceof a blessed resurrection at ye last day in and through ye merits of mkyblessed redeemer; and secondly, I commitmy body to ye earth from whenceit was taken to be decently buried at ye discretion of my executorhereafter named. As for my temporal estate that ye Lord hathlent unto meI dispose of that as followeth:
Imprimis - I give unto my son,Nicholas, a parcel of land where his housestands, computed at twenty and six acres, according to bounds set down inyer Purchasers book of records, with twoacres of meadow lying at ye headof Namskaket, according to record as above said.
Imp. I give unto my son, Nicholas ye one half of my lot of land lying atSatuckett, between Jonathan Banks and ye Indian land. I give unto my sonNicholas, ye one half of a parcel of meadow lying in ye township ofYarmouth in a place called ye Blue Meadow in ye south side of Bass River.
It. I give to my son Thomas Snow ye extra half of my lot where his housestands on that side and nextthe Indian range, and ye one half of mymeadow in Yarmouth yt above specified meadow.
It. I give unto my son prince Snow after my wife's decease or widowhood,mynow dwelling house, and all ye land adjoining and fifteen acres of landabove ye ciommon road according to bounds specified in ye recordabovesaid. I give tomy son Prince Snow three acres of meadow that liesbelow my now dwelling houseaccording to bounds set down in ye beforespecified book of records.
It.I give unto my son Thomas Snow an acre of land at ye northermost endmy lot inye oldfields commonly so-called and another small division ofland estimated at three quarters of an acre of land lying in ye beforespecified old field at Satuckett between Ensign Bangs and Thomas Freeman.
It. I give to my son PrinceSnow yeremainder of my lot of land in yebefore specified Indian fields aftermy wife's decease.
It. I give to my son Nicholas and Thomas my lot of land containing threeacres of land according to record lying between John Freemans pastureandye common road. I give unto my son Prince after my wife's decease anacres anda half of meadow lying between James Cole and Stephen Hopkins inNamskaket meadow according to bounds specified in ye before specifiedrecords. All my land that lie undivided after my wife's decease I giveand bequeath to my three sons,Nicholas Thomas and Prince to be equallydivided between them.
It. Igive and bequeath to my loving wife Jane Snow all my whole personalestate after my debts and funeral charges are paid. I do appoint myloving wife, Jane Snow my wholeand sole executor after my decqease. It. Igive to my son, Prince Snow, my musket cat-box and cutlass and onepistol. I give to my son Thomas Snow my back sword and one pistol. It. Igive to my grandchild Jonathan Snow my carbine. To yetruth and verityhereof I have set my hand and seal this twenty and third day of November1694.

[17451] English diplomat. He fought at Pinkie (1547), was knighted in 1547, andbecame ambassador to France and Scotland. In 1569 he was imprisoned for promoting the scheme to marry Mary, Queen of Scots, to theDuke of Norfolk , but soon released. For two days after the death of Edward VI, the Duke of N orthumberland kept the news secret while heput the next stages of his plan into action.Urgent messages were sent toboth princesses, Mary and Elizabeth, bidding them to come to London tosee their brother before he died. Always wary, Elizabeth suspected dangerand stayed safely where she was, pleading ill-health. However,Mary did asshe was told and set out. Only the timely arrival of a secret message, sent by Sir Nicholas Throckmorton,saved her from falling into Northumberland's trap. His daughter,Elizabeth Throckmorton, married Sir Walter Raleigh. His nephew, FrancisThrockmorton (1554--84) was executed for planning a conspiracy tooverthrow Elizabeth I.
