alternate death: 26 Jun 1690 Of Wethersfield, Hartford, Connecticut
The family was orginally French, with the name spelled "De Ming". They were Huguenots, who after the massacre of St. Bartholomew, dropped the capital "M" and wrote the name "Deming". They may have been among the adherents of the Reformation who went to Holland. Mr. John Deming was one of the chief civil and religion pillars of the Connecticut Colony. He wasa juror of the "Particular Court" in 1643, and in 1645 was member of the"General Court", from Wetherfield. He was one of the PATENTEES name ofthe Charter of 1662, and bore the title of "Mr.", an honor not lightly bestowed in his generation. From "Hall's Memoranda", page 133, by Mrs. S.F. HallWatertown, MA after immig.

Also I give unto him my flock of sheep, and my neat cattle, and all my horses and swine, and all my moveables, within doors and without (not otherwise disposed of by this my last will), and all my husbandry tools, he paying my just debts, funeral charges and such legacies as I do hereb appoint him to pay. I give to my son David all my materials and tools in my shop, and my book debts, he paying those debts I owe about my trade. I give to my son Ebenezer my best coat and my best hat. I give to my daughter Morgan, my daughter Beckly, my daughter Hurbut and my daughter Wright, five pounds apiece, to be paid by my executor within five years after my decease.
