He was named after paternal grandfather, Samuel and a friend of his father, whose surname was Langhorne. "On 14 July 1895, Samuel Langhorne Clemens, aka Mark Twain, fifty-nine years old and deeply in debt, boarded a night train from Elmira, New York to Cleveland, Ohio and launched an unprecedented worldwide performanc tour.
