Poet Robert Frost is a descendant
From "Ancestry of William Chandler of Roxbury, Mass" (NEHGR Vol.85(1931)):
Although Henry Chandler's baptism is not recorded and his father left nowill, it is nevertheless clear that he was a son of Thomas Chandler as hesucceeded to the moiety of the double house occupied by the latter.Appended are the entries in the churchwardens rental roll for thisproperty:
Of Philologus Bush for part of a tenement in Southstreet where he residesformerly of John Bowyer the elder 6d.
Of Henry Chauldeler for the other part of said tenement where he resides6d.
Bush and Chandler thereafter appear on the yearly rolls as residing onthis property until 1619, when the latter is succeeded by his widow.
Except for mentions of his name in the parish register, no otherinformation about Henry Chandler has been found, apart from his will, anabstract of which follows:
The Will of Henry Chandeler of Stortford, co. Herts., glover, dated 9 Dec1618. To my wife Anne, for life, the tenement in Stortford, where I nowdwell (my daughter Elizabeth to have the chamber therein in which she nowlodges); with remainder to Samuell Chandeler, my youngest son, he payingto my daughter Sara, within four years after the death of my wife, D5 inmoney, and to my daughter Elizabeth, for life, an annuity of 20s, payableat the usual quaterly feasts. "Itm I give & bequeath vnto Willm myneeldest sonne ffower pownds of lawfull mony to be payd to him within foweryeres next after my decease, that is to say yerely in e(vr}y of the saidyeres Twenty shillings, if my said sonne live so long, To be pd to myWife, her executors, or ass" To my daughters Elizabeth and Sarah, beds,etc, and to my daughter Sarah a linen wheel that was her grandmother's.All the residue of my estate to my wife Anne, whom I make sole executrix.Wit(nesses): Tobias Channler, Willm Denyson, Tho: Jeninges, ThomasBarnarde, Sen, SC.
